Department of Industrial and Electrical Engineering Technology

 

 

The Department of Industrial Engineering Technology is supportive of the goals of the School of Engineering Technology for the development of students. The Department offers a BS degree in Industrial Engineering Technology and Industrial Technology and/or Technology Education. The major goal of the department is twofold: first, to prepare students for professional careers in Electrical and Industrial Engineering Technology, and, second, to train persons who wish to qualify as teachers of Technology Education in the public schools.

Program Offerings

The Department of Industrial and Electrical Engineering Technology offers four-year programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in three major areas: Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, and Industrial Technology/Technology Education. The engineering technology programs emphasize the practical aspects of engineering rather than abstract concepts or theories. Technology is a blend of the application of science, engineering knowledge, and technical skills used in support of engineering activities. The technology curricula are designed to prepare persons for responsible positions in industry. The Industrial and Electrical Engineering Technology curricula are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The Industrial Technology/Technology Education programs are offered leading to professional teaching careers in secondary and area vocational school and industrial training programs.
